East Hawai'i has a diverse culture, more so than the rest of the islands. Old Hawai'i is still here. Ohana first, it's country living in the tropics. Hawaiian culture grows strong in Hilo. It is a sacred space living in many of the historical stories and the site of Kings and Queens for centuries.

Our reefs are not dived as much as Kailua-Kona or Maui. No one is rushed. The kai (ocean) is a little cooler due to the wai (fresh water) running in.
